Title: Theatre Camp Workshops
Location: Thousand Islands Playhouse
Description: from Tuesday, August 7, 2012 – 9:00am to Friday, August 10, 2012 – 11:00am
Looking for a unique experience this summer for your child? Thanks to a grant from Gananoque Community Musical Theatre Company, the Thousand Islands Playhouse Young Company will be running free theatre camps in August for children ages 6 to 12 at the Springer Theatre in Gananoque, Ontario.
In two separate week-long theatre camps, students will learn about the different aspects of theatre and engage in fun and entertaining activities that will introduce them to the world of theatre.
Showing Your Stuff: (Children ages 6 to 9). August 7 – 10 from 9:00am to 11:30am (a shorter week due to the Civic Holiday on Monday, August 6). Throughout the week, students will enjoy having the chance to dress in costumes, play with props, and work towards putting on a performance for an audience. The theatre camp will draw upon the influences of commedia dell’arte, an Italian form of theatre based around slapstick and improvised comedy.
Because it’s limited to 20 students per week, participants are encouraged to commit for the full week.
